Using CHKALL
You use the CHKALL utility to check for information about the hardware,
memory, and some software present in your system. You may need the
information included in the report if you call ZSoft Technical Support. The
CHKALL utility is copied to your PhotoFinish directory during setup.
You use the CHKALL utility at the DOS prompt. You can use CHKALL
from your PhotoFinish directory or from any directory if the PhotoFinish
directory is in your path.
To use the CHKALL utility:
1 Exit to the DOS prompt.
2 Type CHKALL.
3 Press Enter.
CHKALL generates a report about your computer.
Some of the information is expressed in hexadecimal numbers. If you
want, you can use a calculator to determine the decimal equivalent.
You can also run CHKALL with an option that will give you more
technical information about the scanner and scanner driver you have.
Type CHKALL /S at the DOS prompt.
Following in a list and explanation of CHKALL options and what
information is provided:
Checking System xxxx: the date and time you used CHKALL.
DOS version: the version of DOS installed in your computer system.
Video Adapter(s): the type of monitor installed in your computer
system. If you have more than one monitor installed, CHKALL reports on
all the monitors you have. CHKALL will tell you if you are installed for a
VGA, EGA, EGA monochrome, monochrome, or CGA monitor.
Number of Floppy Disks: the number of floppy drives you have.
DMA Not Present: DMA is not in your computer system. If DMA is
present, this item is not included in the report.
Number of Serial Ports: the number of serial ports you have.
Game Port Installed: a game port is installed in your computer system. If
you do not have a game port, this item is not included in the report.
Number of Printer Ports: the number of printer ports you have.
Mouse Driver Version: the version number of your mouse driver.
Mouse Interrupt: where your mouse is installed.
Total Kilobytes DOS RAM: the total amount of DOS RAM you have.
Available Kilobytes RAM: the amount of RAM currently available.
EMS Version: the version of EMS you have. If you do not have EMS,
this item is not included in the report.
Available Kilobytes EMS: the amount of EMS currently available. If you
do not have EMS, this item is not included in the report.
Total Kilobytes EMS: the total amount of EMS you have. If you do not
have EMS, this item is not included in the report.
EMS Page Frame Address: where EMS stores temporary files. If you do
not have EMS, this item is not included in the report.
No EMS Available: you do not have EMS in your computer system. If
you do have EMS, this item is not included in the report.
Scanner Driver is Not Installed: you do not have a scanner driver
installed. If you do have a scanner driver installed, this item is not
included in the report.
Scanner Init was a...: scanner initialization was a Success or Failure. If
you do not have a scanner, this item is not included in the report.
XMS Version: the version of XMS in your computer system.
Total Kilobytes XMS: the total amount of XMS you have.
Available Kilobytes XMS: the amount of XMS currently available.
Processor Type: the kind of processor in your computer system.
